The Last War

AION 2 is set after the Last War. The AION Tower fell, the protective barrier failed and the Balaur poured into both Elysea, home of the Elyos, and Asmodae, home of the Asmodians. In each homeland the surviving Empyrean Lords gave their lives or their light to raise a great wall, the Bulwark: between Eltnen and Interdika on the Elyos side, and between Morheim and Belluslan on the Asmodian side. Beyond the Bulwarks, the new Dragon Lords Ishtar and Fafnir rule over Poeta and Ishalgen and twist captured Daevas into weapons against their own kind. Every Daeva starts there, fights through to the main region, and meets the other faction in the Abyss.

The main Elyos region, where most of the story to the level 45 cap takes place. It is split into many sub-areas and also holds the entrances to the first expedition dungeons.

Official locations

metabot.gg's 1–51 looks like the span of every monster level placed in the region, not a recommended band. Leveling guides run the Elyos story here from about 10 to the Global cap of 45. metaroad.gg warns that no reliable per-zone level bands have been published.

Awakening
Every Daeva starts in their faction's opening zone: Poeta for the Elyos, Ishalgen for the Asmodians, both overrun by a Dragon Lord.

The main story
Verteron and Altgard hold most of the story up to level 45, the top level on NC's character search so far, with villages, field bosses and dungeon entrances.

Endgame at 45
From level 45 you can buy Lower Abyss Rift Stones and fight in Lower Reshanta, where paired servers meet in the Abyss. Expedition dungeons such as Krao Cave and Draupnir follow; their Hard mode asks for item level 2,600.

Beyond the Bulwark
Eltnen and Morheim are in the Global client but not open yet. Community sites report them as released only in Korea and Taiwan so far.

Expedition dungeons

Krao Cave

A cavern where the legacy of war lies in slumber. The seal is broken by greed, and together with the experiment subject “Berk,” a calamity awakens once more. The Daevas dispatch a strike force to put an end to the nightmare of the past.

Urugugu Canyon

Deep within the Tolbas Canyon lies a sacred sanctuary revered by a tribe that believes it to be the domain of the gods. At its heart is said to slumber the divine bird, “Auldor,” a divine being summoned via draconic power.

Fire Temple

A temple built within a lava cavern, where the gods are said to have hidden their treasures. Beyond the traps and vigilant guardians lies an altar at the journey’s end. There, a sentient mirror whispers: “Can you resist this temptation?”

Draupnir

Beyond the shattered portal, the Draupnir Cave is slowly being consumed by an unknown dimension. There, Bakarma absorbs an alien and corrupting power, and at the far edge of that collapsing realm, he is reborn as a “new Dragon Lord.”

NC says there are over 200 dungeons (solo, 5-player and 10-player). The official expedition dungeons are Krao Cave, Urugugu Canyon, Fire Temple and Draupnir; NC's Oct 20 patch adds Hard mode to Krao Cave and Draupnir.
