Server matchmaking and your Abyss rival

Why every AION 2 server holds one faction, which server you fight in the Abyss, and how pairings change.

In AION 2 each server houses a single faction. When you start the game you choose a region, then Elyos or Asmodian, then one of that faction's servers in the region.

Your rival server

The two factions meet in shared PvP spaces such as the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts. To bring them together, NC pairs every Elyos server with one Asmodian server. Whenever you enter the Abyss or another cross-faction mode, the enemies you meet come from your paired server. If Siel is paired with Israphel, every Israphel Asmodian in the Abyss runs into Siel's Elyos.

Pairings are not permanent

NC updates pairings periodically to keep the factions balanced, and adds pairs when new servers open. Pulse reads NC's continuously updated matchmaking notice, so the rival shown on the server status page follows those changes.

Friends on other servers

All instanced content, including dungeons, is cross-server. You can group with friends on any server of the same region; only the open-world faction war follows your server pairing.
